Provisional Accredited Researcher 

Occupation scope and impact

Provisional Accredited Researcher membership enables you to join CIMSPA if you have active interest in research within the world of sport and physical activity but are not professionally qualified. 

CIMSPA will support you through your career pathway and help to unlock your full potential. 

This membership is suitable for students, early career researchers or industry professionals beginning research activities. There is no formal degree requirement, with relevant industry experience or an equivalent research role being acceptable.

Professional status

Want to go further in your career and gain the professional recognition that you deserve? Professional status can support you to demonstrate your expertise, plan your development and open up new opportunities in your career. With a title, a digital accreditation credential and postnominals that celebrate your skills and knowledge, professional status is here to release your power. 

We don’t currently offer professional status for Provisional Accredited Researchers, but we recommend exploring the Researcher professional status pathway to understand how you can progress your career and be recognised for all that you do.

Entry requirements

Through your CV and CPD record, you will need to provide evidence of the following: 

  • Completion of foundational research methods and data protection training 
  • Ability to demonstrate basic research skills through coursework, small-scale projects or industry-related research 
  • Any contributions to non-peer-reviewed outputs (not essential) 

 

These is no requirement for prior published research or a degree – relevant industry experience is acceptable.

  • Provide evidence of your qualifications and CPD documentation in PDF, JPEG or PNG format. 
  • Debit card, credit card or direct debit payment options are available. 

Step 2 – We will process your application 

  • You will receive email updates as we review your application. 
  • We will let you know if we require any further information from you. 
  • You will receive an email confirming that your professional status has been approved.
