This Chartered Week, CIMSPA is collaborating with a community of chartered and professional bodies to promote how chartered professionals can help rebuild trust in public services.
Chartered week is a an annual national awareness week that celebrates the importance of chartered practice in a wide range of sectors. This year, the theme is Celebrating Trusted Professionals.
Chartered and professional bodies like CIMSPA help to create accessible routes to professional careers while keeping standards high in the UK. In our sector, CIMSPA supports trusted professionals to develop in their careers and strengthen public confidence in the power of sport and physical activity.
Over 40 Chartered and other professional bodies have signed an open letter to government offering their support as key partners in building trust in the public and business services we all depend on.
We are asking the UK government to take a lead in expecting and promoting registration and chartered status for all professionals in the vital sectors represented here, including in the civil service.
Spencer Moore, Deputy CEO of CIMSPA said:
“In a sector that plays a critical role in supporting national health, wellbeing and economic outcomes, becoming a Chartered professional in sport and physical activity marks credibility, competence and trust.
“Supporting someone to move their body, improve their wellbeing or fitness, or manage a health condition is not trivial. It requires expertise, judgement and responsibility. People shouldn’t allow just anyone to guide them on something as personal as physical activity. Our Chartered members have been rigorously tested against the sector’s professional standards and our Chartered framework, to ensure that they are the best that the sector has to offer.”
